Free American Roulette: Basic Facts |
Free American roulette is a little different from the free European roulette.
The
main difference, in a nutshell, is that American roulette has an extra
slot. While European roulette has numbers from 0 to 36, American
roulette also adds a double zero - 00. This extra slot makes free
American roulette harder to win, giving the house a 5.3 % advantage. As
compared to the European roulette's 2.7 % advantage, it is quite a lot,
isn't it? But, of course, when armed with a sufficient knowledge of free roulette strategy and
free roulette systems,
you
still have a perfectly good chance of winning. Some free American
roulette tables offer you a so-called "Surrender" rule. When you pick
this option, you can play more safely with the outside bets (those made
in the boxes that surround the numbers on the free roulette table).
You don't
lose these bets then on 0 and 00 although you do lose half of your bet.
This rule decreases the house's advantage to the point of only 2.63% .
Where does free American roulette originate from? Well, American
roulette emerged around the year 1800 when the Europeans brought the
concept of roulette to America. The European roulette had only one zero
then, and the Americans added the second one. One can't say the
Europeans didn't like the addition! You see, some versions of roulette
played in Paris casinos at the end of the 19th century also contained
that 00 slot. The wheel used for the game was pretty much similar to
any free roulette
wheel you
can see now when playing the free American roulette, but the zero was
red and the double zero was black. Later it was discovered that this
fact confused some of the players, so all the zeros were changed to
green. Nowadays they may be either green or white in free American
roulette.
